Just don't eat the leaves...

We had some fall fun this Halloween weekend! I'll have those pictures up soon...Sarah loved playing outside although I should have known she would try to eat the leaves..and the pumpkin too! Yes, that is her standing inside the pumpkin all by herself!

Blessings in disguise

Ok, I've been musing about various things that have recently happened to me.. but following the experience of a friend (Thanks Hailey!) I'm deciding not to be upset and see the blessings.

1. Kurtis has been gone since Thursday morning (or 4 days). He went to a BYU-MBA shindig that only affirmed his hopes of going to BYU's program. He was due to get back at 5 (I have to pick him up 1.5 boring hours away in Minneapolis) but called to say his flight was delayed 1.5 hours...deep breaths. I'm grateful to have a husband who is willing to work hard for our family..for my mom who graciously gave us his ticket..and for Sarah who's been sleeping FABULOUSLY while Daddy's away.

2. Stake Conference was this weekend..need I say more? Sarah was pretty good for a 4 month old but still a handful when you're by yourself. She had some wardrobe issues (well, she threw up on everything) and there were sound issues. We stuck it out as much as we could and then left a little early this morning. But really, I'm so grateful for the Gospel and for my Savior. I don't need to say anything more.

3. It snowed..not once but twice before Halloween already. Luckily, it all melted and it's gotten a tad warmer. It was really pretty with all the big flakes and the trees covered...However, it makes me think of Christmas already (!!) and the loooooong winter ahead. But I'm totally excited to see family for the holidays and see my baby grow. I'm just trying to keep myself from playing Christmas music already.

4. Our computer is dying..besides the being VERY slow, making weird noises and shutting off randomly, the screen is also being taken over by various colors. I don't know how to describe it but there's a white bar, about an inch wide, on the left side, a tiny green line to the right of that and then a tiny purple line appeared last week. It's kinda funny actually to see the screen get a new color, except it's permantly there. I guess it's time to back-up our files...

I know these sound like minute issues to others and even sound silly to me as I'm writing them. But they were a big deal in the moment. Maybe I'm just a wimp..or maybe I needed them as little lessons of patience from my Heavenly Father. I'm just glad He loves me enough to keep teaching my stubborn self.

PS. No. 5...I was trying to update and add some friends to my list of friends and family blogs..in the process I deleted the whole list. This is probably the 4th time I've done so..so if you could say hi or something..it makes it a whole lot easier to recreate the list. Thanks! See, another blessing, now I get to hear from you! I'm such the optimist now..

Dear world,

it's about time I get to say something! I'm already 4 months old and have experienced so much! Like last week Mommy dressed me up in this big furry outfit with a hat (I didn't like) and took me outside in the cold. I don't know what she was thinking. But today it is pretty outside. We got to see the colors on the trees.

I've decided I don't like to lay down anymore so I'm trying to sit up. No one told me it was going to so hard! I don't like to roll over anymore, but I like to bounce on Mommy and Daddy's lap. That's fun. Mommy hasn't been real nice to me lately either. I cry and cry and she doesn't always pick me up right away! Maybe I'm crying wrong...She is also feeding me this white stuff from a weird plastic stick. I'm not sure if I like it yet but I'm giving it a fair chance. Daddy is so funny and makes me laugh a lot. He sings silly songs and plays games with me. Mommy does too, but Daddy is funnier. And there's also all these weird people who aren't my parents who try to make me laugh. I don't like them very much either. I just like being held by my Mommy or Daddy.

Oh here's a funny story. Mommy puts me in these clothes that are a little too big. Since I'm an active girl I kick, kick, kick and get my toes stuck in the holes. Like this.
I had to go to the doctor last week and boy was it NOT fun. At first I thought it would be because the doctor was real nice and playful with me. But then they poked me a bunch of times with something really sharp. They told me I was a healthy girl though and said I weighed 15 pounds. Of course I do, I thought. I LOVE to eat, all the time. :) Good thing Mommy has enough milk.
I'd love to talk to all of you but Mommy says it's time for a nap. We'll see about that. ;)

Love,
Sarah

The inevitable...

has come. It snowed last week. Just a teeny bit..but snow nonetheless. AHH!! Not yet! I swear it's too soon. But we did take take advantage of Sarah's first snow and got a picture. She's our little Russian baby!

Fall

OK, so I haven't posted in a while. Maybe I've been trying really hard to wish the 'nice' fall weather to come back. After months of gorgeous 70 degree weather, BAM! A cold front rushed in bringing rain, wind and 40-50 degree coldness! And, it's blown lots of leaves off the trees. Humph!
Not much has happened lately.. I went back to Gig Harbor last month and had a girls weekend with my sister, sisters-in-law and mom.. I'm wating to get some pictures from everyone else since I didn't have my camera. Kurtis had it because he got lucky and was invited on a manly canoe trip for the same weekend! He'll have to post about that with his pictures. It was great to get away and see everyone. And sooooooo fun to be spoiled and let Grammy and doting Aunts take care of Sarah for a while.

I do love the fall. My house is decorated with dollar-store finds. I especially love Halloween. I've been following this blog 'The Shabby Nest,' (see link on the side) for some great decorating ideas. I found a great way to finally display some of my 'friends' from my college bug collection. Yay! Also, things in jars. I've got skeleton hands, spiders, and an eye-ball in jars on display. Hilarious and CHEAP! I can't wait to get out my fall clothes again and I've already started drinking my favorite Good-Earth tea. Yum..

Sarah will be 4 months this week. I can't believe how fast it's going! She's rolled over a few times but has decided to table that trick at the moment. Kurtis can get her to laugh so good, which is the cutest thing ever. I'd post a movie but the blog doesn't like our camera's format. Go figure. She smiles a ton and is grabbing and chewing on things like a little puppy. Her favorite though is holding onto a blanket and peeking out of it with her little eyes, as seen above. She's just adorable. I've yet to get a good picture of her smiling...I'm working on it!
