Blessing day

Since my parents were here and Kurtis' parents won't be able to come out to see Scott for a while, we decided to go ahead and bless him at just 9 days old. His blessing outfit was made by my grandmother (I'm pretty sure) and was worn by my brothers, and 2 nephews. My mom gave it to me because no one else wanted to keep it and I was happy to have an heirloom to keep in the family. Scott swam in it of course because he was so tiny but it was pretty cute on him. What a blessing it was to have family here for the occasion and to have a husband worthy of giving our son a name and a blessing in church. What a wonderful thing the gospel is!

I love his squishy little face! This outfit was soooo huge on him!

What Sarah does.. all day.. :)

Christmas morning!

Christmas was a bit different for us this year as we had to prepare the night before putting batteries in various toys (for some toys, putting batteries in was the gift!), stuffing stockings and wrapping last minute gifts. We had a big breakfast before any unwrapping, which was delightful. Kurtis got most of the gifts this year.. I can't help finding things that he likes/needs and getting them for him. He got some nice hiking boots he wanted, a paintball gun thanks to my sister and brother-in-law, a BYU visor since he gave his other one away, a corvette poster thanks to my dad and a few other little things. I got some clothes and.. drumroll please.. a Shark steam-mop! Ohh how I love this thing. We also bought a new camera and Kurtis took me to see White Christmas at our local playhouse for a final date before the baby was born. This came with the promise of more date nights to come. That's what I really wanted for Christmas-dates with my husband! Sarah didn't know what to think of Christmas. She liked ripping the paper off things but wasn't interested in a whole lot until she saw a little school bus that plays 'Wheels on the bus' (that toy has become annoying) and her princess chair! Her cousin Lucia has one and Sarah loved to play with it when we saw them over the summer. We knew we had to get Sarah one too. It's her throne. We had a relaxing day and then an excellent turkey dinner. It was a great day. We have so many things to be thankful for this Christmas.

Mr. 2

While I have a moment, I'd like to announce the arrival of our little boy!
Kurtis 'Scott' Tucker
Born December 17th, 1:48 AM
4 hours labor, not bad really! I'll tell the story later
7 lb 9 oz
20 inches

We didn't get a whole family picture at the hospital because Sarah wasn't cooperating. Poor thing just doesn't feel good.

He's a healthy little boy and we're so grateful everything went really smoothly. Adjusting to home life has been hard, as he sleeps all day and is up at night and Sarah has a cold.. but we're surviving. My parents are here, for which we are also grateful. Sarah doesn't really know what to think of him but always points at him and babbles towards him. She likes to poke him, gently. It's pretty cute. She got a new baby doll to hopefully distract her from Scott. She promptly dropped and stepped on him after opening the package.

Before I forget

Sarah is growing up so fast that I wanted to document some of the cute things she's doing lately before I forget them and she grows up more! Of course, right now she's being a little pill and is not letting me do this...

Ahh bedtime. I guess it's a good thing I'm doing this now because I can reflect on just how sweet Sarah is and now how she was acting today.

So Sarah is almost 18 months! The year really has flown by. Some days it seemed like would drag on forever while others were over in a moment. I'm grateful that Sarah (and all of us actually) have been really healthy and haven't had any major mishaps, minus Kurtis' bout with stitches. However, 'tis the season for colds and we keep passing one around. Sarah has had a runny nose lately and is really good about letting us wipe her nose. She has a habit of getting into the wipes container and removing all of them..sigh.. but I did find her with a wipe trying to wipe her stuffed bunny's nose. It makes me laugh just remembering how cute it was.

She's also getting really good at using a spoon and fork. Of course she's got about a 50% success rate of things actually getting into her mouth because she does this twist thing where the utensil ends up upside-down as it enters her mouth, but she still manages to get most of it. It depends on the consistency of what she's eating. She loves to have a spoon or fork to carry around too. I often find her feeding her baby dolls or stuffed animals. I can't wait for her to really start pretend playing! She's been really into the baby swing we have out in the living room and puts her babies in there to swing. We're working on being gentle.... and I cringe when she throws her babies on the ground.

We are anxiously anticipating Mr. 2 who should be arriving soon! And congrats by the way to Kurtis' brother Chauncey and his wife Paola on their Mr. 2 who came today! Yay for cousins!!

We've got the tree up, house decorated, getting organized, cleaning, wrapping presents and preparing the house (and my sanity, if that is possible) for his arrival. I can't wait for my parents to come and be here for the big arrival and for Christmas. Let's all remember what the season is about. I'm grateful for my new little one to come and remind me just how special life is. Love to you all..
