Every Wednesday morning around 10 AM the city does a simple check of the tornado warning towers to make sure they work. I've never heard them because I was always at work by 10! Last week was my first hearing. It just sounds like a regular police siren that goes really high then really low. The test lasts about 20 seconds. Later that day I was watching TV while I ate lunch and I heard a siren. I thought it was the TV, nope. I thought it was the police, fire or ambulance, nope. It was a bonafide tornado warning siren! The sky was very overcast and the wind was picking up. I had no idea what to do so of course in my curiosity, I went outside to check it out. A neighbor was outside too and motioned for me to go back inside. I began to camp out in the bathroom across the hall but then figured it was nothing before I noticed that it was extremely dark outside. I got excited, grabbed the camera and took a couple pictures. It wasn't that windy but I've never seen the sky that dark in the middle of the day. Then it started to pour buckets. There were no sightings in town but apparently a few farms northeast of town were hit. No fatalities. The adventures in the midwest keep coming!!!
