Yellow ribbons have a special meaning again as my brother Mark left for Afghanistan this week. He and my other brother have deployed previously. Mark will be gone for a year and we'll miss him. I also wanted to share my new precious niece, Sophia Grace! We love you guys and will see you in a year Mark. I'm proud to have you as my brother.

julie,
I grabbed my heart & started to well with tears when I saw your post. Thanks for thinking of us. We love you.
Good luck to your brother and may the Lord watch over him and his little family while he is in Afghanistan.
I just listened to this podcast (located here: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=129086933) that I found very touching. Ted Koppel, ABC news anchor, shared his thoughts about the huge and largely downplayed/unrecognized sacrifice that service men and women and their families make and the way the people of the US have become blind to war and its consequences.
I think you will agree with many of the points that Mr. Koppel makes. Take care!
